Who We Are
SpayKind, formerly Humane Solution Spay-Neuter Program, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the belief that dogs and cats should not be euthanized simply because there are not enough homes. We work to reduce pet overpopulation through compassionate prevention, creating healthier communities for both pets and people.
What We Do
SpayKind is focused on the prevention of pet overpopulation and the health and well-being of owned pets and feral cats. We accomplish this through five channels:
- Low-Cost Pet Spay and Neuter Vouchers

Our clinic provides scheduled spay and neuter surgeries for SpayKind voucher recipients and shelter pets, expanding access to high-quality, affordable care. - Community Outreach
Through community outreach, we educate pet owners about the benefits of spaying and neutering and help ensure that affordable services are accessible to those who need them most.
Our Mission
To reduce pet overpopulation and prevent unnecessary euthanasia by making affordable spay and neuter services accessible to underserved pet owners and community cat (feral) caregivers.
Our Vision
We envision a community where all pet owners have access to spay and neuter services, where every pet has a home, where pet overpopulation is eliminated, and where healthy, adoptable animals are no longer euthanized.

SpayKind History
Founded in 1999 as Humane Solution Spay-Neuter Program, SpayKind was established to address pet overpopulation by expanding access to spay and neuter services for pet owners experiencing financial hardship. Through its voucher programs, the organization developed partnerships with veterinary hospitals across the Piedmont region and into southern Virginia to provide services for voucher recipients.
In 2019, we expanded our efforts by launching a community cat (feral) program that supports Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR), helping to reduce the number of kittens born outdoors while improving the health of managed cat colonies.
In 2020, we hired an Operations Manager to administer the spay-neuter program.
In July 2024, we opened our own spay and neuter clinic located within the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. The clinic serves shelter pets, SpayKind voucher recipients (owned pets and feral cats), and adoptable animals from rescue organizations throughout the region.
In September 2025, Humane Solution rebranded as SpayKind. Our new name reflects our belief that compassionate prevention is the key to reducing pet homelessness and ending the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals simply because there are not enough homes.
During that time, we hosted our inaugural gala, Tails and Ties: A FIXED AFFAIR, and also hired our first interim Executive Director.
