Why This is Important
North Carolina has one of the highest healthy pet euthanasia rates in the country — a heartbreaking statistic that can be changed. While our gala last year was a huge success, these statistics are what we hope to change. At SpayKind (formerly Humane Solution), we believe the most powerful way to reduce and ultimately end healthy pet euthanasia is through accessible spay and neuter services.
Why This Matters
FACT: 5.6 Million Cats and Dogs are abandoned at shelters in the U.S. each year.
FACT: 1.5 Million animals will never make it out of a shelter alive.
FACT: Overcrowding often ends in euthanasia for healthy, adoptable pets.
FACT: Many puppies and kittens are surrendered or abandoned because there aren't enough homes.
FACT: Each surgery brings us closer to preventing pet overpopulation without euthanasia.
FACT: Every spay and neuter reduces pain, suffering, and neglect.
